New Media Manitoba (NMM), in partnership with On Screen Manitoba (OSM) and with support from the Province of Manitoba, is launching the second iteration of the Virtual Production CoLab training program. Through this partnership, NMM and OSM aim to support Manitoba’s production industry by preparing Manitoba’s media production workforce for emerging technologies and strengthening the province’s position in a rapidly evolving sector.To introduce the program, we are hosting an in-person information session featuring a full-stage demo and Q&A to walk through the program’s format and schedule.

The info session will answer questions like what new skills are covered in Virtual Production CoLab 2.0 and how these technologies can be applied in Manitoba.Special guests from Fish Flight Entertainment (Vancouver) and HTC Vive (Los Angeles) will break down each component of this workshop series, designed to take participants from script to screen using advanced virtual production techniques.

Who should attend: This info session is ideal for film and media professionals across various roles, including directors, cinematographers, producers, VFX artists, animators, editors, and production managers looking to expand their skill set with high-demand virtual production techniques. No prior experience in virtual production is required. Past participants are welcome to attend to discover new program elements in CoLab 2.0, which builds on last year’s training with fresh skills and deeper learning opportunities.

About Virtual Production CoLab Training Program: Virtual Production CoLab is one of the most comprehensive hands-on virtual production programs available in Canada. Virtual Production CoLab 2.0 is designed to further equip Manitoba’s filmmakers with the skills they need to leverage advanced technology and share compelling stories that connect with audiences in new and impactful ways. This training empowers filmmakers to plan effectively and create immersive scenes using real-time 3D platforms like Unreal Engine. Actors, directors, and crews bring digital environments to life directly on set, working within these dynamic spaces.

His striking storytelling ability was developed over years of film and video editing experience. His background in Visual Effects has given him a wide array of creative tools. Often, his projects do not rely on one medium, but include a well-integrated mixture of 3-D animation, live action, motion graphics, game-play, and found footage. As a director, he prides himself in delivering products that exceed client expectation.

HTC Vive (Los Angeles)
Raymond Mosco is a Latino American entrepreneur, producer, and technology evangelist. Mosco has held notable positions at Apple, Facebook, and Oculus during its highly publicized $3b acquisition. In 2014 he traveled the world providing over 1M initial impressions with the Oculus Rift. Since then he has guided startups and deployed immersive technology for organizations including TED, SeaWorld, Paramount, and Hulu. As a veteran of both Silicon Valley and Hollywood, Raymond serves as a conduit between entertainment and technology, focusing on how immersive technology will shape the future of storytelling.
