Virtual Production CoLab 2.0
New Media Manitoba (NMM), in partnership with On Screen Manitoba (OSM) and with support from the Province of Manitoba, is launching the second iteration of the Virtual Production CoLab training program. Through this partnership, NMM and OSM aim to support Manitoba’s production industry by preparing Manitoba’s media production workforce for emerging technologies and strengthening the province’s position in a rapidly evolving sector.
Virtual Production CoLab is one of Canada’s most comprehensive hands-on virtual production programs. It gives participants the unique opportunity to work in small multi-disciplinary teams to take an idea from script to screen in Virtual Production. Under the mentorship of our industry mentors, they will then leverage all the tools and expertise at StudioLab xR to develop a short film together during the week of February 10th - 14th, 2025.

Virtual Production CoLab 2.0 is designed to equip Manitoba’s filmmakers with the skills they need to leverage advanced technology and share compelling stories that connect with audiences in new and impactful ways. This training empowers filmmakers to plan effectively and create immersive scenes using real-time 3D platforms like Unreal Engine. Actors, directors, and crews bring digital environments to life directly on set, working within these dynamic spaces.
